Nikalas Foundation was conceptualised in 2012, during the centenary celebration of our parent organization, Somalwar Education Society a name synonymous with excellence in education for over a century. The Foundation was envisioned as a platform to carry forward this legacy and extend premium educational practices to the children who need them the most.
We began with various value-adding programs in schools serving marginalized communities, targeting teachers and students both. The success of these initiatives eventually led to the formal incorporation of Nikalas Foundation as a Section 8 company in July 2021, under the able leadership of CA Rohit Somalwar.
Through unique programs like Anubhav, Saraav and Sadhan, we have worked with 15,000+ marginalized children in just 3 years of operations and we are determined not to settle until every child in India experiences education as a gateway to opportunity, dignity and growth.
To create equal opportunities for under-privileged children and transform their lives through high-quality education.
To improve the quality of K-12 education being imparted to under-privileged children across India by implementing innovative teaching methods, enhancing educational infrastructure, and ensuring holistic development through a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Born out of the 100+ years legacy of Somalwar Education Society, Nikalas Foundation carries forward a tradition of excellence in the field of school education.
While policies like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, RTE and ECCE have improved enrolments and reduced out-of-school children, the real challenge of inadequate foundational skills remains unaddressed. Government has brought in strong transformative frameworks in the form of NEP 2020, NCF reforms and the NIPUN Bharat Mission. Yet, their success especially for marginalized children depends on the collective efforts of all changemakers.
At Nikalas Foundation, we have embraced these qualitative aspects of school education as our lifelong mission, and we remain deeply committed to creating equal opportunities for less-privileged children across India.
